The library provides many computers for patron use. These computers are connected to the internet, and have many browsers and utility programs loaded on them, including Microsoft Office for word processing and spreadsheets. Use of the printer for both black and white and color printing is also available. Two computers have larger screens and reading software for the visually impaired.
The computers are accessed by your library card number. Persons without a card must come to the front desk to get a temporary guest pass to use the computers. Underage children will need their parents permission to get this pass.
The computer reservation system allows for at least 1 hour of computer use. If your session is ending and there are open computers still available, you will be given a popup allowing you to extend your session for 30 minutes at a time. If all computers are in use, you may place a hold request at the front desk until an open computer is available.
The computers have a CIPA filter (Child Internet Protection) to guard against pornography. Nevertheless there is a chance that some websites will not be caught and blocked. Patrons caught visiting such sites on purpose will be told to stop and will be removed and banned from the library if this behavior continues.
Illegal computer usage (spamming, phishing, harassment, etc.) is not allowed. If you are caught, your computer privileges at the library will be terminated.
Use of the library computers (especially for minors) is at your own risk. Parents are STRONGLY urged to stay with their children while using the library computers.
