Patrons wishing to receive a library card must complete a library card application. Borrowing privileges are extended to anyone with appropriate identification who lives, owns property, or operates/owns a business in St. Bernard parish. Residents of Braithwaite and those residing at Jackson Barracks are also eligible for a library card.
Adults are required to show current picture identification (i.e. Louisiana Driver’s license or State ID). If the ID does not show a parish address, we will need proof of current local address or affiliation (i.e. a utility bill with your name on it dated within last 3 months.)
In order for children to get a library card, their adult parent or guardian must FIRST get their own card. These cards will be linked, and any fines will have to be paid by the adult.
You can print and pre-fill out the application for a library card by clicking this link.
Loan Period and Renewals
All materials (books, DVDs, audiobooks) are loaned for a 2 week period. One renewal period of 2 weeks is available for books and audiobooks, but NOT for DVDs. Renewals are not allowed if others are on hold waiting for the item. You may either appear in person, call the library, or use the library’s “My Library Account” webpage button to renew your item.
